OUR OFFICE
As you know we are reconstructing the stage in the fellowship hall of Dane St Church. We have also been given office space inside the church. We recently have washed the walls, vacuumed, and wiped down all the shelving in preparation for moving our theatre office supplies, books, and scripts into the office. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Swing Dance Benefit
Sea Change Theatre held a swing dance benefit to begin raising money for theatrical lighting equipment.
Thank you to everyone who came and danced the night away!
Thanks again everyone for your generous contributions.
Come join us on August 24th for our special classical benefit concert featuring Sara Henry.

Stage Renovations
We are very excited and thankful that the first round of stage renovations are complete!
Many thanks go to Charlie for his excellent craftsmanship!

The front of the stage had a rounded edge and contained several old electrical outlets. The first step was to remove the front edge and the metal paneling.
It has been a busy February and March at Sea Change Theatre. Jason and Staci traveled to Mississippi. They visited with Joseph Frost, playwright and chair of the theatre department at Belhaven University.
Sea Change Theatre’s production of Braids, written by Joseph Frost will be a regional premier. Braids will open spring of 2013. For more information on the playwright Joseph Frost please see the Playwright’s Corner of our website.
Jason and Staci recently met with Sara Henry, founder of Dramma per Musica!
Sea Change Theatre Company will be co-producing an opera with Dramma per Musica during our 2012-2013 Season!

Who are we? Two people passionate about great storytelling and love the art of theatre.
About a year ago we found a space inside Dane Street Church that was not being used. It’s a cute, but run down, proscenium stage
The first major step in renovating the stage was to remove the plaster ceiling directly above the stage. The main purpose for this was to eliminate the “echo chamber” effect inside the stage and improve the overall sound quality.
We plan to place sound absorbing materials up into the back half of the rafters.
Once we raise enough financial support, our goal is to hang lighting instruments above the open rafters.
Next step was to prep the walls for paint . . . thus came much hammering, scraping, removing of staples, and sanding.
And after a good wipe down . . . it’s time for black paint!
TADA! It’s an (almost) new stage!
Our next projects will be to add additional sound paneling, extend the stage approximately, and raise funding for curtains and lighting. Please find some of our renovation pictures below.
